GoPro Mission 1 Pro ILS Crop Factor Calculator
Fitting a Micro Four Thirds lens to the GoPro Mission 1 Pro ILS? This calculator gives you the crop factor, the full-frame equivalent focal length and the horizontal and diagonal field of view for any lens. Choose your in-camera aspect ratio, switch HyperSmooth on or off, and enter a focal length or pick a preset. GoPro quotes a crop factor of about 2.7× without stabilization and about 3× with HyperSmooth applied, and the calculator works from those figures.
Which lens are you using ?
Pick the in-camera aspect ratio, switch HyperSmooth on or off and set the focal length of your Micro Four Thirds lens.
GoPro quotes about 3× with HyperSmooth against 2.7× without. Edit this to match what you measure.
What's the crop factor ?
Diagonal crop factor against a 36 × 24 mm full-frame sensor.

The horizontal figures compare against a full-frame sensor of the same aspect ratio, which suits video work.
What does the sensor see ?
Light blue: the full 4:3 sensor, 12.8 × 9.6 mm. Dashed line: the selected aspect ratio. Dark blue: the active area after HyperSmooth.
Every aspect ratio
Diagonal crop factor. Select a row to use that aspect ratio.
Sensor modelled as 12.8 × 9.6 mm (4:3, 16.0 mm diagonal), which reproduces GoPro's published 2.7× without stabilisation. GoPro quotes about 3× with HyperSmooth, so the default extra crop is 3.0 ÷ 2.7 = 11.1%. The camera works out the real HyperSmooth crop from the focal length you enter, so treat that figure as an average. Wider ratios are assumed to keep the full sensor width and crop the height; 1:1 keeps the full height. Frame-rate modes that crop the sensor further, such as 4K120, are not modelled.
