Cine camera battery calculator

Plan your camera power before you pack. Pick your cinema camera, from the ARRI ALEXA 35 and Sony BURANO to RED V-RAPTOR and Blackmagic URSA Cine. Add the accessories you're running, such as monitors, wireless video, focus motors and lens heaters, and the calculator adds up the total power draw. Then build a battery loadout from V-mount, Gold mount or B-mount sizes until it covers your shoot day. It accounts for charging on set, charging overnight only, or no charging at all for off-grid shoots, as well as cold weather and older batteries. It also shows which batteries can fly, and you can export the plan as a PDF for production.

Draw figures are typical running averages from manufacturer specs and rental-house measurements; edit any figure to match your kit. Kit with its own battery doesn't belong here unless you run it off the camera battery.

Click a size to add one to the loadout; mixing sizes is fine. Each tile shows runtime on this package, usable energy and how many you'd need using only that size. Usable capacity allows for the temperature, the battery's condition and 15% lost to cut-off and conversion.

Flight guidance follows the IATA rules for spare lithium-ion batteries: they travel in cabin baggage only, never checked in. Up to 100 Wh needs no approval; 100 to 160 Wh needs airline approval, with a limit of two per person; over 160 Wh is not allowed on passenger flights. Airlines can be stricter, so check with yours before you pack.
